5 areas
The ITT Core Content Framework, designed by the DfE in 2019, supports trainee development in five Areas of Professional Development:

Through school experience, trainees will develop the five core areas through:
- Expert colleagues
- Practice and reflection
- Discussing and analysing with expert colleagues
- Observing expert colleagues and deconstructing their approach
- Receiving clear, consistent and effective mentoring
