Assessment

  • Assessment Visit 1 (3 hours). The AO lead will visit the candidate at the supporting school. The visit will consist of a lesson observation, discussions with the candidate and professional tutor regarding current coverage of the Teachers’ Standards. If required, targets will be set in order to fill gaps. The AO Lead will discuss requirements for uploading evidence on Teams and explain how this evidence will be monitored and reviewed.
  • The candidate will continue to teach, whilst simultaneously gathering and demonstrating evidence through Teams. The AO Lead and Professional Tutor will monitor this weekly provide feedback. They will raise any concerns with the candidate/ CVPA SCITT at the first opportunity.
  • Assessment Visit 2 (4 hours). This visit will consist of lesson observation/s, a scrutiny of the gathered evidence (including advice on how to strengthen their evidence) and discussions with the candidate and professional tutor. Previous targets will be reviewed and, if required, a new set of targets will be agreed, in order to ensure full coverage of the Teachers’ Standards. The AO Lead will write a report and send this to the SCITT Leaders, the candidate and the Headteacher/ Professional Tutor.
  • Ahead of the Final Assessment visit, the candidate and Professional Tutor will complete a summative report and upload this to Teams.
  • Assessment Visit 3 (4 hours) will be carried out by the AO Lead and will consist of lesson observation/s, discussions, and full scrutiny of evidence, including the summative report. The AO Lead and Professional Tutor will judge whether the candidate has demonstrated that they are consistently meeting all of the Teachers’ Standards. This judgement will be shared with the candidate on the day.
  • In a timely fashion, the AO Lead will formally notify the candidate that they have been recommended for QTS and the process is concluded.
